Las Vegas Teacher

ALYSSA ORR/LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL
Fifth grade teacher at Goynes Elementary School, Dana Bennett, hands out report cards to her students during the last day of school, Thursday, June 9, 2011.  Bennett had left the district when she had a baby and when she returned to a teaching position in November of 2010, she was forced to assume a first-year teacher status.  Because of this, she's been told she likely won't have a job next year.  Bennett has worked in Las Vegas' school district since 2004.  Her and her husband, who is also a teacher in the district, moved out to Las Vegas from New York, N.Y., because the cost of living was too high to raise a family.
